Store Your Pet Supplies In A Dry Place

Most pet products do not last long when you put them in humid and moist places. Some types of pet food become stale and moldy when exposed to moisture. To make sure that the pet supplies stay in good condition for a long time, you need to find a dry and cool place in the house where you can store your pet supplies. If you have a basement at home, check the humidity and moisture level of your basement before you store your pet supplies in there. If you are planning to store a lot of pet supplies in your basement, it would be a good idea to buy a humidifier or a temperature monitor in your basement. Check the humidity and the temperature of the basement every now and then especially during the summer and winter.

As much as possible, do not put your pet products directly on the floor. Concrete floors do not have stable temperature and there is a big possibility that your pet products will get wet if your basement gets flooded during bad weather. To make sure that your pet products are safe, put them inside an airtight container before you store them. Putting your supplies in airtight containers will keep water away from your supplies.

Keep Track Of The Expiry Date

You need to pay close attention to the expiry dates of the pet products that you buy. As much as possible, go for those supplies that will not expiry for at least one year. If you must buy those pet supplies that are on sale, make sure that these supplies still has a bit more time left before they expire. You should not buy those pet products on sale which are about to expire unless you are planning to use all these products within the next couple of weeks or so.
